This should not put you off of it what-so-ever, as we likely have very different tastes. Note: This review is fairly short due to me not being too interested in the mod. I certainly introduces a ton of new elements and features to the game. If you enjoy innovative historically accurate mods, then I recommend you give this one a shot.
If you can get passed that, you will find a very good looking mod with a lot of depth and new features that I’ve never seen before. Mostly, this is because of the battles that simply took too long, as there was a bunch of running at the beginning. Overall, I spent a fairly short amount of time with Imperium Romanum. Let me know if you think it's necessary or if I'm just wasting my time.īecause of its length, I will probably just post it as a simple link here so it doesn't take up a ton of the post. Don't count on it being here very long, as it is incredibly time consuming. This section won't be for everybody, and just those who enjoy reading stuff like this and really taking consideration with which mod they choose. This section should not say much about the difficulty of the mod, but if it means anything, I'm playing with a difficulty percentage of 68%.
I by no means claim to be very good at the game. Either that, or I will simply start a new play-through. If I've already played the mod extensively, I may just post a starting guide or some tips here. In this section I will basically write how my first time with the mod went, in a sort of story-like composition. This could be part of me tabbing in and out of the game to type the "personal experience" section, but I did crash after clicking "continue" after a battle. In my fairly short time playing this mod, I didn’t really find any bugs, but I did have a couple crashes. I got 3 items worth about 100 Scillingas in total. Maybe I just got unlucky, but raiding hideouts and such seems to be almost useless. It looked like only one or two hits were exchanged before one of them died. Troops seem to die very quickly when they contact each other. The mod has a fairly grindy feel as you just battle groups of ~100 bandits over and over, making little money off of it. It’d be nice to put my 200 infantry into more than 3 rows. There's a lack of row options when in battle, ending up with large single-line formations that don’t work so well, or simply 3-line shield walls. Because of this, the initial levels you achieve won’t be easy. You start out incredibly under-powered, especially if you’re an archer. Although this may be realistic, it certainly slows down the pace of early game, and is really what cut my time with this mod so short. In depth character creation featuring race, height, religion, and a dynamic story, just as in Brytenwaldaīecause of the very large battlefields, lack of starting cavalry, and the fact that the enemies - even outlaws and bandits - simply form a wall and stay in spawn the battles tend to take a good while to get started as you spend a few minutes running to the other side of the map. Huge, expansive map with many new factions. Great map and in-game city, village, and castle models. You'll find yourself starting out with an army size of your choosing, finding off parties of hundreds bandits trying to make up enough money and food to survive the week, hoping your morale stays high and your casualties low.Īmazing models and texture-work on the armor and weapons.
Going into this mod you can expect a challenging and entirely new experience that no other mod offers. Imperium Romanum features extensive and realistic units, a very large map, realistic combat and battles, and much more. There is not much information given on the time period of the mod, but when dealing with Rome, I suppose that isn't needed too much. Imperium Romanum is a historical mod set in Ancient Rome. These may also be added to the sidebar or some other form of easy access, ie. I will interlink each review and try and keep a sort of "network" of these. This will allow both me and other people to be introduced to some new experiences. I plan on starting with mostly unknown or less-popular mods.
Introduction I'm going to be starting a mod "review" series of posts instead of doing the originally intended mod list.
